Preparing for Your ProcedureIn advance of your procedure appointment, our medical team provides you with instructions specific to you.

If you take blood-thinning medication, such as Coumadin, Plavix, aspirin, Prodaxa, Lovenox, etcetera, please notify our medical team. Certain drugs must be stopped several days before your procedure.

Transportation

Most patients cannot safely drive themselves home because of the medications administered during the procedure. Therefore, in advance of your procedure date, please arrange for transportation home, as you may not be permitted to drive yourself after your procedure.

Your driver is welcome to wait for you. Alternatively, you may provide the receptionist with your driver's cell phone number and s/he will be contacted when you are in recovery.

After Care Instructions

Prior to leaving the facility, you are provided written instructions about after care. After care includes information about activities to avoid or limit, care of the procedure site and dressings, post-procedure pain and symptoms, and how to contact our office should concerns arise.

You will be provided with specific discharge instructions following your procedure customized to your condition. The attached instructions are provided only as an indication for pre-planning purposes and do not replace or supercede the specific discharge instructions which will be provided to you by the Recovery Nurse.
